Queen Alia International Airport Passenger Traffic Increases by 14.6% in April

Amman, May 2017 – Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 689,674 passengers in April 2017, registering a significant year-on-year leap of 14.6% in comparison to the same month of last year. According to official figures released by Airport International Group, throughout April, the Airport recorded 6,184 aircraft movements (ACM), representing a year-on-year rise of 2.6%, as well as handled 8,816 tons of cargo, resulting in a decrease of 8.8% against April 2016 figures.

As of the end of April, QAIA has received a total of 2,361,458 passengers in 2017, representing a year-to-date (YTD) increase in passenger traffic (PAX) of 5.4% in comparison to the same period in 2016. Meanwhile, YTD ACM witnessed a marginal fall of 1.5%, while cargo handled decreased by 8.7% in comparison to the first four months of last year.

“Throughout 2017, QAIA has witnessed consistent increases in passenger traffic, reflecting favorably on our outlook for the remainder of the year,” said Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group. “As the weather warms up, and with Ramadan just around the corner, we look forward to witnessing more positive results as visitors make their way to the Kingdom to enjoy its pleasant summer tourism activities, while Jordanians living abroad return to share the holy month with their families and loved ones.”
