Over 6.2 Million Passengers Welcomed by Queen Alia International Airport by the End of Q3

Amman, October 2017 – Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) ended its third quarter with 6,202,370 passengers having passed through its halls during the first nine months of 2017, registering a 6.0% year-to-date (YTD) increase in passenger traffic (PAX) as opposed to the same duration in 2016, according to official figures released by Airport International Group. Moreover, YTD aircraft movements (ACM) witnessed an increase of 1.7%, coming in at 57,909 while the amount of cargo handled increased by 6.9%, totaling 80,483 tons, in comparison to the same period of last year.

For the month of September, passenger traffic marked1.4% increase, amounting 785,454 passengers. Meanwhile, ACM figures witnessed 2.0% increase and cargo saw a 33.1% rise, in comparison to September 2016, coming in at 7,066 ACM and 9,430 tons respectively.

Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group, stated, “The results during September have been conclusively positive. We witnessed the celebration of Eid Al Adha and Haj pilgrims departing to their respective countries, as well as the beginning of the new academic year, which had many visitors leave the Kingdom while locals returned from their summer jaunts. We look forward to sustaining and surpassing these numbers during the upcoming months before the year draws to a close.
